With a rich history of thermal tourism, which experienced a peak of prosperity between 1870 and the early twentieth century (the VIPs and the crowned heads of this period regularly frequented the spa), there remains today in Chamalières an architectural heritage of great beauty, which can be admired along several municipal streets.
From an economic point of view, the tourist resort of Royat-Chamalières has, along with Mont-Dore and La Bourboule, the largest number of registered furnished flats of the stations in Auvergne.
In terms of care, Royat-Chamalières is a famous European spa, reputed for the treatment of rheumatism and cardiovascular disease.
The diversification efforts undertaken to revitalize tourism are visible today in ambitious projects which rely on hot water thermal springs, and include a wide range of leisure opportunities related to well-being and fitness.
