Chamalières has been twinned since 1983 with Geretsried (Germany), a welcoming and dynamic city of 24,000 inhabitants, located 35 km south of Munich, in one of the most beautiful areas of Bavaria.

This twinning of “cities”, which has become a twinning of “hearts” for many inhabitants, was conceived in 1980 and was put in a concrete form in 1983 with the “Twinning Charter”, signed jointly by Mr. Wolff and Mr. Schneider, mayors of the two municipalities.
Since then, the friendship between the two cities has continued to grow thanks to rich and constant exchanges in all fields: associative, educational, cultural, sports, professional, economic, humanitarian exchanges, and of course, travel and regular meetings of residents.
These flourishing exchanges have earned this twinning several awards by the highest European authorities: the Council of Europe, the Strasbourg Parliament and the Council of European Municipalities and Regions.
The Twinning Committee, affiliated with the Maison de l’Europe en Auvergne, is an association (Act of 1901) which all people may join.
In order to help the young people of Chamalières in their search for internships abroad, the Twinning Committee, affiliated with the "Maison de l’Europe en Auvergne", invites you to discover a few links to Europe:
